Mr. Glen Kershaw
I enjoy spending time with my wife and 5 kids, farming, and working with numbers. I am a graduate of BSU, I speak Spanish and I teach math.
Over the years I have developed a passion for math. I started my teaching career at Lincoln Elementary in 1994. I taught 2nd grade for 12 years. While teaching there, I took a three year course through Boise State University on developing mathematical thinking. I devoted my summer and after school hours to this program. It changed the way I thought about math and how students learn. I realized there are many different ways students learn and understand. In 2006 I had the opportunity to teach here in Middleton where my children attend school. I enjoyed 9 years at Mill Creek Elementary where I taught 2nd and 4th grades. When the position became available at the Middle School to teach math 6 times a day, I couldn’t pass it up! This is my third year teaching Math at Middleton Middle School. I strive to help my students develop a positive attitude toward math.
I see success when students are taught several different problem solving strategies and they discover which one works for them.
“Good mathematics is not about how many answers you know...It’s about how you behave when you don’t know.”
