Jazz Band: In this course we will explore various musical styles (swing, funk, rock, Latin, etc.) that we aren't able to cover in concert band. We will also be able to dive deeper into music theory and jazz improvisation. Instruments in this ensemble include; Alto/Tenor/Bari Sax, Trombones, Trumpets, Piano, Bass, Guitar, and Drums. This is an auditioned group. Auditions are held in early April.

Music Appreciation: Students will learn about the history, culture and language of music. This is a 12-week exploratory course. We will touch on historical music eras, various composers that contributed to music and musical styles and explore some of your favorite artists. Students will do individual work as well as collaborate in small groups.
 
6th-8th Grade Band: Band class is a sequential class that spans 6th-8th grade. It is designed to expose students to the world of instrumental music via the band repertoire. Students can select one of the following instruments to learn: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone or Percussion. Students who are interested in playing any specialty instruments (French Horn, Baritone sax, Tuba, etc.) must get approval from the Band Director.
